As part of the Bactive campaign we decided to introduce 10 minutes aerobic activity into the school day. This is in addition to the daily PE lessons. These activities include for example actions and movement to rhymes and stories, aerobics, skipping, simple dance routines and games. The purpose of this is to raise the children’s heart beat which will improve their concentration.
For several years we have had links with an orphanage in Honduras. As part of the Year 2 geography curriculum our children learn about the way of life in Honduras. We have had many successful Christmas appeals when we have collected and sent gifts such as notebooks, pencils, toothpaste, soap, rucksacks, second hand shoes and pasta to name but a few. We are currently developing these links by supporting a small village school and raising funds for the children to visit a zoo. Many of these children have never left their village and will not have seen animals before as they do not have TV or any books. We hope to continue developing these links.
